Baltic Dry Index and Dow Gold once again signal danger ahead
25.06.2010 13:46 in money
The Baltic Dry Index (BDI) provides "an assessment of the price of moving the major raw materials by sea. Taking in 26 shipping routes measured on a timecharter and voyage basis, the index covers Handymax, Panamax, and Capesize dry bulk carriers carrying a range of commodities including coal, iron ore and grain.
The recent 40% drop in the BDI and DOW in Gold ounces breaking down further indicates a much lower DOW and profitability and viability questions across major industrials in the USA. Both charts indicate further contraction in USD bank liabiliies and a thus a perversely stronger dollar.
