These are the statutes, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord your God hath commanded you to teach you, and to do them in the land which you pass over to possess: that you may fear the LORD your God, and keep all his commandments and commandments which I command you, and your sons, and your grandchildren, all the days of your life, that your days may be prolonged. Hear, O Israel, and take heed to do what the Lord has commanded you, and it shall be well with you, and you may increase much more, as the Lord the God of your fathers promised to you, a land flowing with milk and honey. Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, and with your whole soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you this day shall be in your heart: and you shall tell them to your children, and you shall meditate on them, sitting in your house, walking on the road, sleeping and getting up. And you shall tie them as a sign on your hand; and you shall write them on the threshold and on the doors of your house. And when the Lord your God brings you into the land which he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and gave you the great and good cities, which you did not build, houses full of all kinds of riches, which you did not build, wells that you did not dig, vineyards and olive groves, which you did not plant, and you shall eat and be satisfied take care not to forget the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall fear the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only, and you shall swear by his name. You shall not go after other gods of all the nations that are around you. because the LORD your God is in the midst of you; lest the wrath of the Lord your God be kindled against you, and he will take you away from the face of the earth. You shall not tempt the Lord your God, as you tempted him in the place of temptation. Keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and the testimonies, and the statutes which he commanded you: and do what is pleasing and good in the sight of the Lord, so that it may be well with you. to destroy all your enemies before you, as he said. And when your son asks you in time to come, saying, What mean these testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments which the Lord our God has commanded us? you shall say to him: We were Pharao's servants in Egypt, and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand. And he did great and terrible signs and wonders in Egypt against Pharaoh and all his house before us, and he brought us out from there, to bring us in and give us the land which he swore to our fathers. And the Lord commanded us to do all these ordinances, and to fear the Lord our God, that it might be well with us all the days of our life, as it is at this day. And he will be merciful to us, if we keep and do all his commandments before the Lord our God, as he commanded us.
