And now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I teach you; that in doing them you may live, and may possess the land which the Lord the God of your fathers will give to you.

You shall not add to the word which I speak to you, nor take from it: keep the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you.

Your eyes have seen all that the Lord did against Beelphegor, how he destroyed all his worshipers from among you.

But you that cleave to the Lord your God, you are all alive until this day.

You know that I have taught you precepts and justices, as the Lord my God commanded me: so you shall do them in the land which you shall possess.

and you shall observe and fulfill them. For this is your wisdom and understanding in the sight of the people, that, hearing all these commandments, they may say, Behold, a wise and intelligent people, a great nation.

And there is no other nation so great that it has gods near to it, as our God is present in all our supplications.

For what other nation is so famous, that it has ceremonies, and just judgments, and all the laws which I will set before your eyes today?

Take care therefore of yourself and your soul carefully. Forget not the words which your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. You will teach them to your children and grandchildren

lest perhaps they may be deceived by making you an engraved likeness, or an image of a male or a female,

the likeness of all the beasts that are above the earth, or of the birds that fly under the sky,

and the reptiles that move on the earth, or the fish that dwell in the underground waters:

lest you look up to the sky, and see the sun and moon, and all the stars of the sky, and be deceived to adore them, and worship the things which the Lord your God created for the ministry to all the nations that are under the sky.

But the Lord has taken you away, and brought you out of the iron furnace of Egypt, that it might have a people of inheritance, as it is at this present day.

And the Lord was angry with me because of your words, and swore that I would not pass over the Jordan, nor enter into the good country, which he will give you.

Behold, I am dying in this land; I will not pass over the Jordan: you shall pass over, and possess the goodly land.

Take heed lest you forget the covenant of the Lord your God, which he made with you, and make you an engraved likeness to the things which the Lord forbids to be made.

for the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

If you beget sons and grandsons, and stay on the earth, and become corrupt and make some similitude among you, committing evil in the sight of the Lord your God, to provoke him to anger:

I call heaven and earth to witness this day, that you shall soon perish from the land which you shall pass over the Jordan, and shall possess it: you shall not dwell in it a long time, but the Lord will destroy you

and he will scatter among all the nations, and you will remain few among the nations to which the Lord will lead you.

And there you shall serve gods, which were made by the hands of men, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.

And when you seek the Lord your God there, you will find him; if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.

After you have found all that has been said before, in the last time you will return to Yahweh your God and obey his voice.

For the Lord your God is a merciful God: he will not forsake you, nor destroy you at all, nor forget the covenant which he swore to your fathers.

Ask of the ancient days, which have been before you since the day that God created man on earth, from one end of the sky to the other, if such thing ever took place, or was it ever known

that the people might hear the voice of God speaking from the midst of the fire, as you heard and lived.

if God made him to go in, and to take away for himself a nation from among the nations, by temptations, signs, and wonders, by battle, and his mighty hand, and his outstretched arm, and terrible visions, according to all that the Lord your God did for you in Egypt, when you look at your eyes.

that you might know that the Lord is God, and there is no other beside him.

He made you hear his voice from heaven to instruct you, and on earth he showed you his great fire, and you heard his words from the middle of the fire.

because he loved your fathers, and chose their seed after them. And he brought thee forth out of Egypt, going before by his great power,

that he might destroy the greatest and mighty nations at your entrance, and bring you in, and give you their land for a possession, as you see at this present day.

Know therefore today, and think in your heart, that the Lord Himself is God in heaven above, and on earth beneath, and there is no other.

Keep his commandments and his commandments, which I command you, that it may be well with you and your children after you, and that you may remain long in the land which the Lord your God will give you.

Then Moses separated three cities beyond the Jordan on the east side,
