And Moses went, and spoke all these words to all Israel, And he said to them: I am a hundred and twenty years old today; I cannot go out any more, and go in, especially when the Lord also shall say to me: You shall not pass this Jordan. Therefore the Lord your God will go over before you; he will destroy all these nations before you, and you will possess them. And this Joshua will go over before you, as the Lord has said. And the Lord will do to them as he did to Sihon and Og kings of the Amorrhites and their land, and he will destroy them. When therefore he delivers these to you, you shall do the same to them, as I commanded you. Be strong and courageous: fear not, nor be scared of them: for the Lord your God, he is your guide, and will not forsake you, nor forsake you. And Moses called for Josue, and said to him before all Israel: Be strong and of good courage: for you shall bring this people into the land, which the Lord swore to give to their fathers, and you shall divide it by lot. And the Lord who is your guide, he will be with you: he will not forsake you, nor forsake you: fear not, nor be dismayed. Moses therefore wrote this law, and delivered it to the priests of the sons of Levi, who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to all the ancients of Israel. And he charged them, saying: After seven years, in the year of remission, in the feast of tabernacles, when all the people of Israel come together to appear in the presence of the Lord your God in the place which the Lord will choose. and all the people gathered together, both men and women, children and strangers who are within your gates, that they may hear and learn, and fear the Lord your God, and keep and fulfill all the words of this law. The children also of those who are now ignorant, that they may be able to hear, and fear the Lord their God, as long as they dwell in the land to which you, after crossing the Jordan, go, and possess it. And the Lord said to Moses: Behold thy days are near at hand: call Josue, and stand in the tabernacle of the testimony, that I may give him a charge. So Moses and Josue departed, and stood in the tabernacle of the testimony: And the Lord appeared there in a pillar of cloud, which stood in the entrance of the tabernacle. And the Lord said to Moses: Behold, you shall lie with your fathers, and this people will rise up and commit fornication after other gods in the land wherein he goes to dwell in it: there he will leave me, and will make void the covenant which I made with him. And my anger will be kindled against him in that day, and I will leave him, and hide my face from him, and he will be a devourer; all evils and afflictions shall find him; bad things. But I will hide and hide my face in that day for all the evils which he has done, because he has followed other gods. Now therefore, write this song to you, and make disciples of the children of Israel: that they may memorize it, and sing it with their mouths, and this song may be to me as a testimony among the children of Israel. For I will bring them into the land which I swore to their fathers, flowing with milk and honey. And when they shall eat, and are filled, and be fat, they shall turn to strange gods, and serve them: and shall provoke me, and will break my covenant. After they have found him many evils and afflictions, this song shall answer him as a testimony, that he shall not be forgotten from the mouth of his seed. For I know his thoughts, which he will do today, before I bring him into the land which I promised him. Moses therefore wrote the canticle, and taught it to the children of Israel. And the Lord commanded Josue the son of Nun, and said: Take courage and be strong: for you shall bring the children of Israel into the land which I promised, and I will be with you. After Moses wrote the words of this law in the book and finished it, He commanded the Levites who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying, Take this book and place it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, so that it may be there for a testimony against you. For I know your strife and your stiff neck. While I am still alive and going in with you, you have always acted unfairly against the Lord: how much more when I shall be dead? Assemble to me all the ancients of your tribes, and your officers, and I will speak these words in their hearing, and will call heaven and earth against them. For I know that after my death you will act unjustly, and will quickly turn aside from the way that I have commanded you. Moses therefore spoke, in the hearing of the whole assembly of Israel, the words of this canticle, and finished it even to the end.
