And when you have entered into the land which the Lord your God will give you to possess, and you shall possess it, and settle it: You shall take the firstfruits of all your crops, and put them in a basket, and you shall return to the place which the Lord your God will choose, that his name may be called there. And you shall come to the priest who is in those days, and say to him: I confess this day before the Lord your God, that I have entered into the land, of which he swore to our fathers, that he would give it to us. Then the priest then take the basket from your hand and place it at the altar of Yahweh your God. and thou shalt speak in the sight of the Lord thy God: The Syrian persecuted my father, who went down into Egypt, and there sojourned in a very small number: and he grew into a great and strong nation, and immense numbers. And the Egyptians afflicted us, and pursued us, imposing very heavy burdens: And we cried to the Lord, the God of our fathers: who heard us, and had respect to our lowness, and hardship, and anguish: and he brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great terror, with signs and wonders: and brought us into this place, and delivered it to us, a land flowing with milk and honey. And therefore now I offer the firstfruits of the land which the Lord hath given me. And you shall leave them in the sight of the Lord your God, and adore the Lord your God. And you shall enjoy all the good things which the Lord your God gives to you and to your house, you and the Levite, and the stranger who is with you. When you have completed the tithe of all your produce in the third year of your tithe, you shall give to the Levites, and the newcomers, and the fatherless, and the widow, to eat within your gates, and be satisfied: and you shall speak in the sight of the Lord your God: I have taken away that which is sanctified from my house, and gave it to the Levites, and to the stranger, and to the fatherless, and to the widow, as you have commanded me: I have not transgressed your commandments, neither have I forgotten your empire. I have not eaten of them in my mourning, nor separated them from any uncleanness, nor spent any of them in funerals. I have obeyed the voice of the Lord my God, and have done all things as you have commanded me. Look down from your sanctuary, and from the heavens on high, and bless your people Israel and the land which you gave to us, as you swore to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey. This day the Lord your God has instructed you to do these commandments and judgments, and to observe and fulfill them with all your heart and with all your soul. You have chosen the Lord this day to be your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and to obey his command. And the Lord has chosen you this day to be his special people, as he promised you, and to keep all his commandments. and make you high above all the nations that he created, for his praise, name, and glory: that you may be a holy people to the Lord your God, as he has promised.
