When it shall be found in the land which the Lord your God will deliver to you, the corpse of a slain man shall not be known;

The ancients and your judges shall go forth, and shall measure from the place of the carcass of every one of them round about the spaces of the cities.

And which they perceive to be nearer to the rest, the elders of that city shall take away a heifer from the herd, which did not draw the yoke, nor tore the ground with a ploughshare,

and they shall bring it to a valley of rough and running water, which has never been plowed, nor received seed;

And the priests of the sons of Levi shall step forward, whom the Lord your God shall choose to minister to him, and bless him in his name, and in their word, every thing, and whatever is clean or unclean, shall be judged.

And the ancients of that city shall come to the slain, and shall wash their hands on the heifer that was slain in the valley,

and they shall say, Our hands have not shed this blood, nor have our eyes seen

be merciful to your people Israel, whom you have redeemed, O Lord, and do not charge innocent blood in the midst of your people Israel. And the debt of blood shall be taken away from them;

but you shall be a stranger from the innocent blood that is shed, when you do what the Lord has commanded.

If you go out to fight against your enemies, and the Lord your God delivers them into your hand, and you will take them captive,

and see in the number of the captives a beautiful woman, and are attracted to her, and wish to have a wife,

bring her into your house, and shave her hair, and trim her nails,

and she shall take off the clothes in which she was taken, and sit in your house, and weep for her father and mother for one month; and after that you shall come to her and lie with her, and she shall be your wife.

But if afterward it will not sit well with your mind, you will release it free, and you will not be able to sell it for money, nor force it through the power, because you have humbled it.

If a man had two wives, one beloved and the other hated, and they had borne children by him, and the firstborn son of the hated

and if he wishes to divide his wealth among his sons, he will not be able to make the beloved son of the firstborn, and to prefer the son of the hated

but he shall acknowledge the firstborn son of the hated child, and shall give him twice as much of all that he has: for he is the beginning of his children, and to him are due the firstborn.

If a man beget a son that is stubborn and unruly, who does not listen to the authority of his father or mother, and despises to obey those who are restrained,

take him, and bring him to the elders of that city, and to the gate of judgment,

and they shall say to them: This our son is stubborn and stubborn;

The people of the city shall stone him, and he shall die, to put away the evil from among you, and all Israel shall hear and fear.

When a man shall sin, that he must be punished with death, and be hanged to death on a gallows;

His carcass shall not remain on a tree, but he shall be buried on the same day: for cursed is he that hangs on the tree of God: and you shall by no means defile your land, which the Lord your God shall give you in possession.
