I will not appear before the Lord empty-handed but every man shall offer according to what he has, according to the blessing of the Lord his God, which he has given him. You shall appoint judges and officers in all your gates, which the LORD your God shall give you, according to your tribes; that they may judge the people with just judgment; nor shall they turn aside to the other side. You shall not respect persons, nor gifts: because gifts blind the eyes of the wise, and change the words of the just. Righteously shall you follow that which is just: that you may live and possess the land which the Lord your God shall give you. You shall not plant a grove or any tree near the altar of the Lord your God. Neither shalt thou make to thee, nor set up an image: which the Lord thy God hateth.
