Be ye sons of the Lord your God: you shall not make any cuttings, nor shave yourselves for the dead because you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and he chose you to be his special people out of all the nations that are on the earth. Eat not the things that are unclean. This is the animal you should eat: an ox, a sheep, a goat the deer and the roe deer, the buffalo, the chamois, the antelope, the antelope, and the chamois. You shall eat every animal that divides the hoof and chews the cud in two parts. But of those that chew the cud, and do not crack the hoof, you should not eat, such as the camel, the hare, and the coney: because they chew the cud, and do not divide the hoof, they shall be unclean to you. The pig also, because it divides the hoof and does not chew the cud, shall be unclean. You shall not eat their flesh, nor touch their carcasses. These you shall eat of all that dwell in the waters: you shall eat those that have fins and scales: You shall not eat those that are without fins and scales, because they are unclean. You shall eat all clean birds. Eat not unclean things: the eagle, and the griffin, and the osprey kite and falcon and kite according to their kind and every raven and the ostrich, and the owl, and the seagull, and the hawk of their kind, the heron and the swan and the owl and the cormorant, the porcupine, and the cormorant the pelican and the heron, each in its kind; the hoop and the bat. And whatever creeps and has little wings shall be unclean and shall not be eaten. Eat all that is clean. And whatever is of itself, you shall not eat of it. Give to the sojourner that is within your gates, that he may eat, or sell it: for you are a holy people to the Lord your God. You shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk. You shall set aside a tenth part of all your fruits that grow on the ground each year, and you shall eat in the sight of the Lord your God in the place which he shall choose, to be called by his name, the tenth of your corn, and wine, and oil, and of the firstborn of your herds and sheep: that you may learn to fear the Lord your God at all times. And when the journey is longer, and the place which the Lord your God shall choose, and you shall bless you, and you shall not be able to bring it to him, you shall sell everything, and you shall reduce the price, and carry it with your hand, and go to the place which the Lord your God shall choose: and you shall buy with the same money whatever you desire, whether of herds or sheep, wine and strong drink, or whatever your soul desires. And the Levite who is within your gates, take heed that you do not forsake him, because he has no other part in your possession. In the third year you shall set aside another tenth of all that springs for you at that time, and will store it in your doors. And the Levite who has no part nor possession will come with you, and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your gates, and they shall eat and be satisfied: that the Lord your God may bless you in all the works of your hands which you have done.
